This summer we have been successful in obtaining a grant to fund and run free Drama and confidence building classes for children in Swansea aged between three and ten years. This COAST grant is part of the Levelling Up project and money has come from the UK government. Why did we apply for the grant? We are always looking for ways to reach and work with more children, to share our love of Drama and use it to help improve children's social skills and confidence. What are the aims of our project? Increase social inclusion, Increase accessibility to Drama, Provide opportunities for developing social skills in our young people, Improve the health and wellbeing of children in Swansea. How will we meet our aims and how will the grant be used? We are providing eight Drama and Confidence building sessions in August, supporting up to 128 children between the ages of three and ten years. Each session uses Drama as the vehicle to develop children's social, emotional and physical health and wellbeing in fully practical and fun classes. Four sessions are suitable for children aged three - six years and the other four for those aged six - ten years. Each session provides opportunities for physical activity, to work as a team, to problem solve and to make new friends. Every workshop uses a mixture of games, role play, dramatic play, story telling, music, sensory experiences and props and is based around a theme or topic which would be both of interest and appropriate for those involved. The grant allows us to cover our costs and to run these sessions at no cost to the public.
When and where are the workshops?
All sessions take place at Cockett Community hall on 2nd, 8th, 16th and 22nd August.
For children aged 3 - 6 years sessions are 10am - 10.45am
For children aged 6 - 10 years sessions are 11am - 12pm.
